This new 8-storey, affordable housing development is currently under construction. Once completed, it will offer a total of 124 1, 2, and 3-bedroom rental units. Individual units include ground floor private patios or Juliet balconies. The units have been organized to maximize daylight access, optimize cross-ventilation opportunities, and promote intuitive circulation. The range of unit sizes supports different household types, including singles, couples, families, and multi-generational residents, reflecting the client’s priority of creating an inclusive and balanced residential mix.

In addition, the building contains a number of interior amenity spaces which promote livability, and a sense of community. These include: a multi-purpose room (level 1), common laundry rooms (level 1 & 5), informal community meeting areas (levels 2-4, 6-8), amenity library with access to a rooftop terrace (level 6). There are also a number of landscaped areas throughout the site to create natural gathering points for residents while also supporting storm water management.

The building is pursuing LEED Gold Certification as part of the City of Hamilton Grant Program, and will seek additional funding through the CMHC Affordable Housing Fund and Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) funding.

Key sustainable design features include: Solar Power and Geothermal heating and cooling systems, High-performance features such as high-performance envelope design, triple pane windows, enhanced R-Values on walls, and roof, “right-sizing” of spaces, and a VRF mechanical system

The project represents a thoughtful and forward-looking response to the need for high-quality, affordable rental housing. Through its integration of sustainable systems and resident-focused planning, the development will provide a welcoming, and supportive community while contributing positively to the surrounding neighbourhood.
