Fairview Mennonite Long-Term Care Home Expansion and Renovation

This project involved the addition of 108 beds to this existing 84 bed Long Term Care Home, as well as bringing the existing facilities up to current Ministry of Long-Term Care standards.

It included 2, 3-storey additions on either side of the building, with a combined gloss floor area of 39,500 ft², which provide an additional 13 beds in each new wing resulting in 32 beds per RHA. Six of the existing beds have been renovated to create the connection to the new wings. A new 3rd storey expansion on the existing 2-storey Long Term Care is approximately 27,500 ft². The centre portion of the existing LTC was renovated to facilitate the creation of a larger dining room needed to accommodate the additional residents.

Given the extensive renovations to this existing, occupied building, there were extensive considerations and requirements for phasing.
